new projects

So I started on my huge pile of to do’s, and I churned out 1 dress! 1 dress! Yes, I mess around too much and I let myself get sidetracked. In my defense though, I get sidetracked with doing things for/with the kids, my schoolwork, or other crafty related projects. So yeah, story of my life…. I’m always going a mile a minute and continuously digress from what I was originally doing. Like just now, explaining all that, was in fact digressing from showing you what you came here to see.

Without waisting anymore time, and because I was able to jump on the husbands computer to upload pictures (great excuse to get him to grab me an apple cider from starbucks), here we go! This is the dress I made for my girly to wear on fourth of July, but I’m considering selling it. It’s a bit plain for my taste, but still a fantastic and very full dress, perfect for twirling. I like the girly’s dresses to have an unusual amount of pizazz and I’m just not feeling it from this dress. If anyone’s interested in a size 2, one of a kind fourth of July dress, message me and we can work something out! By the way, this dress was made using this pattern http://www.youcanmakethis.com/info/featured-products/Simply-Sweet-Tops-and-Dresses.htm, and was so easy. I highly recommend buying this pattern, not only for how easy it was, but because it’s so versatile and you can make a ton of different styles from this one pattern… well worth the money.

Here’s a bow I made, also for fourth of July. I originally meant to make 1 to go with the above dress, but I liked it so much that I ended up making 5! I’m sure I’ll find something to do with them though, so it doesn’t bother me that I have so many. I used this tutorial/pattern http://www.youcanmakethis.com/info/hair-accessories/Boutique-5-Petal-Flower-Clip-Instructions.htm to make them, and it’s my new favorite bow pattern so you’ll see plenty of these in the future from me.

And these next few outfits were made for a birthday girl’s third party. I absolutely love this pattern! This is the epitome of play clothes in a little girls wardrobe. It doesn’t allow for easy diaper/potty access, but that can be easily fixed with some snaps in the crotch. I don’t add ruffles to the pant legs like the pattern suggests, instead I like the shirred look. For the birthday girl I left it as a halter, but for my girly I like to add buttons to the inside back and buttonholes to the straps, for a criss cross look in the back. I guess it makes me feel like my daughter isn’t so exposed. Here’s the pattern for these guys http://www.youcanmakethis.com/info/featured-products/All-in-One-Romber-Size-24-months-size-6.htm . If anyone needs help shirring the bottoms of the legs like I’ve done, I’d be glad to help. Oh, and there’s a matching bow that is meant to be worn with each of the outfits.

I should be a spokeswoman for youcanmakethis.com because I peddle their patterns like nobody’s business! I really love that site, and the fact that the patterns come from parents like me, is such a plus. Hopefully soon I’ll have my first pattern ready to submit on that site, and I’ll pushing my own pattern at you soon. I better get back to my sewing, so I can make that to do pile shrink at least a bit. Till next time!
